From the Producing Artistic Director

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to nysti.org, and to our exciting 2006-2007 Season. We update information regularly, and hope you will explore and discover the many different opportunities NYSTI offers.

We are a professional, educational regional theatre, and proud of our 30-plus year history of award-winning theatre for family audiences and our extensive education programs fro both schools and individuals. NYSTI’s mission includes a firm commitment to developing new plays and musicals, and throughout the years, we have produced more than thirty-six premieres – most of which we have originated. Many of our works have continued on to other theatres (including Broadway), been produced as audiobooks, and published by Samuel French, Inc.

We are dedicated to fostering international cultural exchange. NYSTI has performed in Moscow, London, Israel, Jordan, Italy, Canada, France, and Sweden, and we have welcomed companies and artists from those and many other countries. We continued our international cultural exchange work in July 2006, when the Theatre Institute traveled to Mantova, Italy, for performances of “American Soup”.

There is always something exciting, entertaining, and educational happening here at NYSTI. Please join us for our performances and educational programs – we look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
